Air slicers confuse the hell out of me. They sound (fittingly) like someone playing a keyboard behind a comically large industrial fan turned to the “Bill Paxton Night Terror” setting.
But I’m a musical sadist. I enjoy the fun songs just as heartily as the distressing ones. Fortunately, Anne‘s “Blonde Men” has a nice combination of both — for every disorienting synth line, there’s a throbbing throwback to dancefloors filled with 25-year-old teenagers dressed in black pleather and welder goggles. It’s up to you to decide which is which.
Anne’s Jerusalem EP is out October 29 on Run For Cover.
