Gap Dream – “Shine Your Love”

Gap DreamI recently sent a link to this track to an old friend of mine with the subject line “:O”. Coincidentally, that was the exact face I made when I stumbled across Gap Dream‘s recently unveiled track “Shine Your Love.”

This little tune is all kinds of awesome — mashing together a range of influences from the circus-y Beatlesque whimsy of Sgt. Pepper/Magical Mystery Tour to the wonky synth organ sound that call to mind Wendy Carlos, Vangelis and the original version of Disney’s Electrical Light Parade.

You might remember Gap Dream from a previous WNWN post, which featured “Fantastic Sam”. That track had a pumping rhythm akin to a lost Italo Disco B-side, which made it great in its own right. “Shine Your Love” seems to take an entirely different direction using the same means, which put GD squarely on my list of acts to look out for in the near future.

The “Shine Your Love” 7″ is out September 17 on Fat Possum Records, and the full length, Shine Your Light,  is set to drop on November 12 (11, 12, 13!) on Burger Records.
